What to do around the Villa

Ideally located in Roubaix, this house invites you to immerse yourself in the cultural and historical riches of Northern France. With its unique architecture, fascinating museums and lively neighborhoods, Roubaix and the surrounding area are full of treasures to discover. Whether you're an art lover, history buff or simply in search of adventure, let yourself be seduced by a region where every street corner tells a story.

La Piscine - Museum of Art and Industry

This unique museum, housed in a former Art Deco swimming pool, exhibits works of art, sculptures and textiles. Immerse yourself in an exceptional atmosphere where art meets the history of the region.

The applied arts collection is housed in the former pool, whose shower and changing cubicles have been transformed into showcases and consulting rooms. The Fine Arts collection follows a chronological and thematic path in the former bath wings. The former refreshment bar becomes the museum's restaurant, and the boutique moves into the spectacular setting of the filter room. The mosaic with its marine decor on the banks of the basin defines a new, evolving scenography, combining a garden of decorative and monumental sculpture and, fed by a sandstone Neptune (Le Lion), a forty-meter-long water feature that can be covered by a floor to organize receptions, exhibitions, fashion shows and more. The cloister garden has been converted into a botanical textile garden (fibers, dyes, mordants).

Barbieux Park

Parc Barbieux is recognized as one of France's most beautiful urban parks, and is just a few minutes' walk or bike ride from Villa Sonneville.

Created when an underground canal project was abandoned in the second half of the 19th century, Parc Barbieux is a 34-hectare English-style garden that will delight walkers and joggers alike.

This remarkable green setting boasts an extraordinary natural diversity.
In addition to its 60 species of trees, many of which are over a hundred years old, and its water features that invite wildlife, the park offers a magnificent walking and sports trail.
A place for leisure and relaxation, it also features two children's playgrounds and a restaurant.
Affectionately nicknamed "Le Beau Jardin" by the people of Roubaix, this listed site has been awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label.

Guided tours are available from the tourist office.
